Harry E. Johnson, Sr., president and CEO of the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation said Wonder's contribution to the event is invaluable:

"We deeply appreciate the support of Stevie . . . who believe[s] in and portray[s] Dr. King's universal messages of democracy, hope, justice, and love."

The dedication ceremony will also feature likes by President Barack Obama, Aretha Franklin, Jennifer Hudson and Jamie Foxx.

The 48th anniversary will come on March on Washington, where King gave his momentous "I Have a Dream" speech.

The monument, a 30-foot granite likeness of the civil rights leader, has been in the works for 15 years; its design and construction tally $120 million.
